Participation in the Greenest Block in Brooklyn - 1 June 2016
We decided this year to put our hat in the ring and to participate, for the first time, in the Greenest Block in Brooklyn, organized by the Brooklyn Botanical Garden. Several of us have been trying for a few years to not only have flowers in front of the building, around the trees but also reclaim space in the courtyard in the back and an old garbage area in the front of the building. We will see how we will fare. The judges will decide in June and July. http://www.bbg.org

The attempt by the owner, Mr. Mordichai Nagel, to convert single family apartments into two separate dwellings (most are actually occupied)
Residents were also reminded of the importance of getting their rental history and knowing their rights regarding who can access their apartment.
Mr.. Matthew-George Pitt, from Council Member Laurie Cumbo's office, was in attendance. Several participants had questions about the speed bump on the service road in front of the building and a tenant brought up an issue with the New York City Access-a-Ride program (both of which are being resolved).
After the official part of the meeting, neighbors gatherer around food and drinks, an opportunity to get to know each other and/or to catch up with each others lives.
